Gareth Bale stole the show on the Kiev grass during the game, but Cristiano Ronaldo, goalless in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool, reminded of himself after the final whistle as he stated: “I am going to enjoy this moment and in the next few days I will give an answer to the fans. It was very nice to be at Real Madrid. In the next few days, I will speak.”
He did speak as he expressed his regret about the timing of his comments but he did not regret the wording. He only added then: “In a week I’ll say something because the fans have always supported me and are in my heart. I don’t speak much, but when I speak, I speak.” He was also the only player to not be pictured in Real Madrid 2018-19 kit.
That was more than enough to spark exit rumours off. Some believe the Portuguese seeks a new challenge, but the most likely explanation is financial issues. Again, it’s two ways to take it. Either Ronaldo is not getting paid what he believes he deserves or he still has tax problems with Spanish authorities.
Naturally, a few clubs who might afford Cristiano have already been mentioned as potential destinations. Paris Saint-Germain would possibly be happy to obtain another superstar for their project after Neymar acquisition and Man United have always been thrown into the conversation ever since CR left Manchester.
His mother clearly prefers one thing to another though: “I like Paris,” Dolores Aveiro told Sport. “I come every now and again. The last time was when my son received the Ballon d’Or. It was a great honour. when I arrived I was treated well by everyone. [Can I] convince Cristiano to sign for PSG? To be honest, it wouldn’t annoy me [if he did], but I would prefer him to return to Manchester United.”
The Portuguese spent 7 fantastic years at Old Trafford, helping the team to three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, and a Champions League trophy, on top of that. He was voted the best Man United player ever in the Premier League era this month:
And who wouldn’t love the man back?
